No matter when your home was built or what its physical configurations are, installing a High Velocity System is always a possibility.
The High Velocity System requires little to no remodeling. Its flexible ducts snake through and around existing construction allowing for installation in the most difficult of areas. There are no unsightly, rigid, or cumbersome ducts. The compact air conditioner can be installed in the attic, basement, or even in a closet, allowing it to meet almost any challenge. The unique air flow is quiet and through aspiration delivers even, draft-free temperatures, while removing up to 30% more humidity than traditional air conditioning. The architectural integrity or your home will be preserved when the Prow Brothers Heating and Air Comfort System is installed.
Prow Brothers Plumbing, Heating and Air has a full time staff of Installation Engineers available for free in-home evaluations. Whether replacing or upgrading your current system, remodeling or adding a system to your home, or building a home from the ground-up, our engineers can design a system to meet all of your comfort needs.

Filtration is the removal of particulates from air flowing through heating and air conditioning equipment. There are inline systems, bypass type and stand-alone systems that can remove airborne particles of varying size. The 1″ filter supplied with standard equipment provides the minimal filtration needed to protect the internal parts and operation of the equipment. Upgrading to high efficiency media filters is a great way to improve indoor air quality.
Adding HEPA systems provide even further particulate removal by sampling the air from your home and putting it through a three-stage filtration system. UVC systems use ultra-violet light inside the ductwork to neutralize airborne contaminates, such as legionella, mold, bacteria and viruses. In addition, the units assist in alleviating symptoms associated with asthma, Sick Building Syndrome and some allergies. We use only proven, industry-approved products that deliver as promised. Our company can design a tried and true filtration system to suit your needs and budget.
We also provide installation, maintenance and repair of your home’s air filtration system.
Controlling humidity is essential to achieving a healthy indoor environment. Humidity is important for respiratory comfort, furniture and artwork preservation, and even for preventing cracks in your home’s millwork. In Kentucky, this means adding humidity during the heating months and removing humidity during the summer. Bypass humidifiers are clean, low-maintenance and effective at replacing humidity lost from heating systems. Homes with large air volume, antique furniture and valuable artwork often benefit from steam humidity. Steam humidifiers add ample humidity and can deliver humidity independently of the heat by running the blower as needed.
In the summer, many homes suffer from too much humidity, which can lead to damp, musty homes and even mold problems. A central dehumidifier can be utilized in several ways to provide dry, fresh air throughout your home. Central dehumidifiers can also be used to bring fresh air into your home to alleviate stale, stagnant air that results from tightly sealed homes.
A Prow Brothers Plumbing, Heating and Air HVAC contractor can assess your home’s humidity needs and design a year-round solution.
This concerns the air that leaks into your house in an uncontrolled manner, which can be due to windows and doors, roof/floor penetrations, attic stairs, can lights, and more. Beyond sealing any penetrations, Prow Brothers Plumbing, Heating and Air can pressurize your home with conditioned outdoor air to insure that any air coming in the house is controlled and air leakage is from the inside/out. Air can also be ventilated from the house without affecting your heating and cooling system. Ventilation involves removing indoor air while simultaneously introducing fresh, filtered, tempered air in exchange. This is a good solution for tightly sealed homes or basements that suffer from stale air. There are a variety of products and ways to apply them to address infiltration.
An indoor air quality solution should address all three of these areas. Recent EPA studies have shown that indoor air is often more harmful then outdoor air. Our company believes in designing systems that not only meet the heating and cooling requirements of a space but also consider the indoor air quality in totality. Plus, we offer installation, maintenance and repair services for your air filtration system at any time.

Combining the heat pump with a gas furnace gives you the ability to very efficiently heat your home. The heat pump runs primarily in mild winter weather, thereby reducing gas consumption. The gas furnace is used as a backup heat source when outdoor temperatures drop below the heat pump’s optimum heating capacity. If you are interested in finding out if a dual fuel system will help you save on your heating costs, talk to our professional HVAC contractors.
Geothermal heat pumps use less energy than traditional heat pumps to heat and cool spaces, as they utilize the constant temperature of the earth to efficiently absorb or remove heat from the refrigerant cycle. The cost of installation of this type of heat pump is returned in energy savings after a few years. New residential geothermal heat pump installations are available to bring this green, energy-efficient technology to your home. Plus, we have maintenance and repair options available for your geothermal heat pump when you need it.

Available in heat pump or a/c only, mini-split systems use digitally controlled compressors and fans with multiple air temperature sensors to provide comfort and efficiency throughout a wide range of indoor and outdoor conditions. These systems are great for sunrooms, basements, kitchens and supplemental air conditioning. These systems are whisper quiet and ultra efficient.
Our HVAC Company also has the Full Service Plan available to cover maintenance and repairs on your system.
Modern boilers use variable fired burners that use up to 93% of the energy they consume to heat your home. These boilers can adjust the water temperature to correctly compensate for the outdoor temperature, zone temperatures and heating demands of the house. They can also simultaneously provide endless amounts of domestic hot water through the use of boiler-fired water tanks.

Prow Brothers Plumbing, Heating and Air provides many services for the small commercial property sector of the Hopkins County area for systems up to 10 tons. Such services include:
Heating equipment primarily uses three different fuel sources: gas, electricity and oil. You may have one or all of these available to you.
Prow Brothers Plumbing, Heating and Air offers a variety of forced air gas furnace solutions, including 80+ AFUE (annual fuel utilization efficiency) forced air gas furnaces with multi-speed and variable-speed blowers and 90+ AFUE forced air gas furnaces with multi-speed and variable-speed blowers.
Multi-speed blowers typically have 4 speed settings available. The speed is set by the HVAC technician to accommodate your needs. Most often the fan is set at a lower speed for heating and a higher speed for cooling.
Variable-speed blower motors are “smart” motors available in selected heaters and air handlers. The variable-speed blower works in conjunction with other controls to adjust the required blower speed to your home’s heating and cooling requirements. On mild days, the blower operates at lower speeds than on hotter and colder days. The lower blower speed results in quieter operation and better filtration of the air. When combined with a central air conditioner, variable speed motors provide enhanced dehumidification. When combined with some humidifiers, the longer run cycle provided by variable speed increases the amount of humidity added to your home during the heating cycle.
Contact Prow Brothers Plumbing, Heating and Air contractors at our company for installation, maintenance and repair of your forced gas heating system.
Heat pump systems work efficiently to both heat and cool your home or office. By utilizing the refrigeration cycle, heat pumps are more efficient than electric furnaces alone. Heat pumps are able to heat a space without using any gas or oil, making them a great option for additions without existing gas piping. Heat pumps are available in variable capacity, two-stage, and single-stage units.

Variable Capacity Furnace
Variable capacity furnaces are available with variable capacity gas valves allowing for 65 stages of heat control. This furnace is the most efficient, up to 98.7%, that’s on the market today. This furnace is also equipped with a variable-speed blower motor for longer air circulation and less noise.
Furnaces are available in two-stage capability. The furnace is able to run on a low stage, using less gas to heat the home when it is mild or maintaining temperature. The gentle heat of first stage allows for better humidity control (when combined with a humidifier), less fuel consumption and whisper quiet operation. The furnace can also automatically step up to second stage to combat severe cold weather or heat the home up quickly. Two stage furnaces are available with variable speed fans, for the ultimate in comfort and control.

SEER is an acronym for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Rating. Kentucky mandates a minimum of a 14 SEER rating for air conditioning units. The SEER for each A/C unit is determined by the manufacturer, under government-approved laboratory conditions. The higher a unit’s SEER, the more energy efficient the unit is. In order for an air conditioning system to achieve its maximum SEER rating, it must be properly engineered and installed.
Often times, the actual SEER in a home is much lower than rated. Poor air conditioner efficiency results in a higher electric bill because of improper design and/or installation. This is much like miles per gallon (MPG) for a vehicle. Maximum MPG is only achieved under optimal conditions.
The R&D service technicians are some of the best in the industry. They provide a thorough inspection to ensure that your system is operating properly, maximizing the efficiency and life span of your air conditioning system. This assures a high SEER rating for your home, reducing your monthly electric bill.
Refrigerant is often referred to by the trade name Freon, owned by DuPont, a major force in developing the refrigerant business. Various refrigerants are best suited to particular applications. Currently, residential and light commercial air conditioners run on R-22 and R-410A.
R-22 is the refrigerant commonly called Freon by consumers. It is normally found in all residential and light commercial air conditioners. Since R-22 is not as harmful to the environment as other refrigerants, the federal government is allowing a slower phase-out for this type. Starting in 2010, R-22 will not be used as the refrigerant in newly manufactured equipment. By 2030 there will be a total phase-out of R-22.
R-410A is a new, environmentally sound refrigerant. Many people know it by the brand name Puron®. R&D Electric, Heating and Cooling, and Appliances is offering this alternative to our customers.
